Be Humble

Be Hopeful

Be Worthy

Values for quality Christian lives

from Paul's letter to the Ephesian Church

Dear friends,

If you care about the life you live then look at these three scripture encouragements:

Be HUMBLE .... it is better to be modest than boastful. Those who are always wanting people to praise them miss something important, what we are is under God's grace! That's why John Newton could write "Amazing Grace" because he appreciated that what he had was not what he'd earned or deserved but from the generosity of God. So Paul reminded the Ephesian Christians "by grace, you have been saved" (Eph. 2:8). Are you wise enough to recognise God's gifts in your life?

Be HOPEFUL .... for the Christian what keeps us smiling is not what we have, for that can often fail and let us down, but what we know we will have. When early Christians suffered for their faith what kept them going was the promise of Christ that "I will come again and take you with myself" (St. John 14:3). Paul reminded the Ephesians that "God raised you up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms" (Eph. 2:6). It is the promise of our heavenly hope that carries us through this life with a smile!

Be WORTHY .... because we have a task to fulfil. Paul wrote that it was "God's workmanship that created us to do good works" (Eph. 2:10). We are created for a purpose, we have something to do. Paul added "I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received" (Eph. 4:1).

God bless,
