From TAKE to GIVE
In four moves!
The
other Sunday, on our Learning Curve, I
asked whether anyone could complete the puzzle above - changing one letter at a
time but each time still having a complete word.
Have a go, it can be done!
The
puzzle led to a study on GIVING cheerfully!
We focussed on a passage where David has encouraged the people to give
for the Temple Project (1 Chronicles 29).
The response had been terrific.
We read that “The people had
given willingly to the Lord, and they were happy that so much had been given.
King David also was extremely happy.”
(verse 9)
I
asked also What it was that had been
given?
Was it the combined wealth of king and people?
No!
Indeed David recognised that everything that was “given” already
belonged to the Lord. “All things come
from You and of Your own have we given You.”
(v. 12).
What really was given was the willingness of the people to recognise
this and to willingly give back to the Lord what belonged to the Lord.
They were also wholehearted in their willingness to respond to the challenge.
Now
how willing and wholehearted are we when we learn to give?
We can all readily take
but are we so ready to give?
Yours sincerely,
